Blow out some candles and write

My dog, Pippa, and I have both had birthdays this month so I thought I’d write some fun birthday prompts for you, even if it’s not your birthday.
Write a short paragraph about the best birthday you’ve had. Include one simile and one metaphor. Max 100 words.
Write a short paragraph about the worst birthday present you’ve been given. Include one alliterative phrase. Max 100 words.
Using an extended metaphor, describe a character’s birthday from hell, where everything that can go wrong, goes very, very wrong. Max 150 words.
Describe the feelings of someone who wakes up on her birthday morning, filled with relief that a new year has begun and a particularly terrible one is now behind her. Max 50 words.
Focusing on dialogue, write a funny scene between dog owners who are planning a joint birthday party for their beloved pets, Frodo and Luna. Max 200 words.
Focusing on voice, write a short monologue from a character who has always lied about her age and intends to keep doing so, especially as her partner is taking her out for her fiftieth birthday, even though she’s in her sixties. She fears aging and being considered old. Max 300 words.
Write a piece of flash fiction – no more than 100 words – with the title: The Birthday Candles.
And if it has been your birthday recently, huge happy birthday from me. X
